H.E. Doan Xuan Hung, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, just joined the Diplomatic Council as a honorary member. His festive admission ceremony took place during the Salon Diplomatique et Economique in Mannheim and he received his certificate from Secretary General Hang Nguyen in front of an audience of 80 selected guests.
The Salon Diplomatique et Economique was generously sponsored by Michael Himmelsbach, a long-time DC member and former city councillor of the City of Mannheim. Many high-ranking DC members witnessed the festive admission ceremony of the Ambassador.
Career diplomat with more than 35 years of experience
Ambassador Doan Xuan Hung was born in Hai Phong, Vietnam. He is a career diplomat with more than 35 years of experience and has held many major positions at the foreign ministry as well as at various Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad. He studied in the former Soviet Union, completed a training course at the Vietnamese foreign ministry, a post-graduate course for economic growth in Great Britain and a training program for high-ranking leaders at the Harvard University. He further attended several courses for higher civil service at the national academy for politics and public administration and at the academy for defense.
Since November 2015 Ambassador Doan Xuan Hung represents Vietnam in Berlin. Prior to coming to Germany, he was the Ambassador in Japan and made a big contribution to founding the extensive strategic partnership for freedom and prosperity between Vietnam and Japan. His earlier assignments include functions in the former Soviet Union and the USA. In Vietnam he held the position of a vice minister.
