The Diplomatic Council is inspired by the idea that volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges worldwide. Everyone can contribute their time, skills and knowledge through volunteer activities, and their combined efforts can be a significant force to achieving peace and development. Though volunteering we can make important economic and social contributions and create a more cohesive society by building trust and reciprocity among citizens. It can be both challenging and rewarding and requires you to use your skills in a new context. You can also transfer useful knowledge while gaining a greater understanding of the issues affecting other people.

DC Volunteering Program

The Diplomatic Council offers young people around the world the opportunity to become a DC Volunteer. There are two different types of volunteer programs, one being temporary (6 months) and one being a permanent assignment (permanent volunteer program). The program is based on voluntary work only and can be carried out at home from the internet (home volunteer) or in a diplomatic mission or at a company of a Diplomatic Council member.

A home volunteer can execute his DC volunteer program in addition to his regular profession. The typical tasks for a home volunteer includes translations, drafting and creating reports, writing texts, carrying out journalistic tasks, a scientific work, researches (at desks as well) and administrative tasks. The type of work to be done will be determined together with the secretariat general. On request, an assessment of the volunteer work can be given by the High Education Certification Institute of the Diplomatic Council. In the event a good or even very good assessment is given, the Secretary General will award the “Diplomatic Council Volunteering Diploma“ which can be used for the personal curriculum vitae.

Interested persons can apply for a DC volunteer immediately. The decision on admission to the program is taken by DC High Education Institute and cannot be contested.
