The Philippines is one of the strongest growing markets in Asia. GDP Annual Growth Rate in the Philippines averaged 5.2% from 2001 until 2016, reaching an all time high of 8.9% in the second quarter of 2010 and a record low of 0.50 percent in the third quarter of the crisis year 2009. GDP is expected 6.0% in 2016 and 6.1% in 2017. The story of success goes on and on.
The Philippines is a founding member of the 10 ASEAN countries (Association of the Southeast Asian Nations). The country is taking benefit of different free trade agreements like AFTA (ASEAN Free Trade Area) as well as other free trade agreements f.e. with China, India, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Together it forms the world’s biggest Free Trade Zone ever.
The Philippines is unique in Asia because of three main reasons:
1) Business language is English.
2) About 90% are Christians ( the only country in Asia).
3) American way of living.
It is indeed “more fun in the Philippines”, one of the official slogans, especially for investors and those who want to set up their businesses here.
They can obtain a first overview of what the country has to offer with the help of a representative or agency that will guide them in exploring the potential of the country’s market, and its viability when it comes to being the hub for foreign businesses before they invest huge amount of money.
