The Diplomatic Council Global Funding Program

The Diplomatic Council Global Funding Program is based on cooperation with leading investment funds/ specialists around the world and the global Fundsurfer organization as a strategic partner. Fundsurfer is a hybrid funding platform offering access to a wide range of alternative and collaborative funding options. It is part of the fin-tech sector focused on innovating the delivery of funds to projects and companies.
Humanitarian and commercial projects
The goal of the DC Global Funding Program is to raise investment capital for
- Humanitarian and social projects undertaken by the Diplomatic Council itself and/or by DC partners organisations,
- Commercial projects of DC corporate members as long as these projects follow the DC rules and regulations including the DC code of ethics,
- Support the growth of alternative and collaborative finance globally.
The aim will be for DC projects to be supported with crowdfunding and targeted match funding. Projects can be selected by sector, geography and type of funding e.g. social investment or crowdfunding. DC projects raise 25% of total on the DC partner platform fundsurfer.com and where is matched by two selected match-funding partners. Funded support and training is provided.
Fundsurfer have built a robust online fundraising platform that supports reward and donation crowdfunding and has a portal offering access to other funding options. A version this service is used as the Diplomatic Council’s fundraising platform.
Crowdfunding is getting popular
By 2016 the crowdfunding industry is on track to account for more funding than venture capital, according to a recent report by Massolution. Just five years ago there was a relatively small market of early adopters crowdfunding online to the tune of a reported $880 million in 2010. Fast-forward to today and we saw $16 billion crowdfunded in 2014, with 2015 estimated to grow to over $34 billion. In comparison, the VC industry invests an average of $30 billion each year. Meanwhile, the crowdfunding industry is doubling or more, every year, and is spread across several types of funding models including rewards, donation, equity, and debt/lending.
Working to support DC projects the Global Funding Program will pre-qualify DC projects and provide access to additional support to prepare projects to crowdfund or raise investment.
