Diplomatic Council and Diplomat Magazine based in The Hague have entered into a far-reaching cooperation with the objective to create more value for Diplomatic Council members while at the same time granting to the readers and partners of the Diplomat Magazine access to the Diplomatic Council`s global network. For this purpose, Dr. Mayelinne De Lara has been appointed Diplomatic Council Head of Mission Benelux based in The Hague. In her new function, she will closely collaborate with the Brussels Diplomatic Academy, Diplomatic Council partner in Belgium, and Francis Hoogewerf, Head of Mission Luxembourg.

Diplomatic Council members will enjoy major benefits from the partnership including access to the high-quality events organized by the Diplomat Magazine. They will furthermore meet new business members and members of the diplomatic corps in the Benelux countries. Ambassadors joining the Diplomatic Council will benefit from the global business network with the opportunity to raise attraction hence increasing tourism and investments in their countries

H.E. Andrea Perugini, Ambassador of Italy to The Netherlands, joined the Diplomatic Council as the newest member on the occasion of the official Mission opening in The Hague.

Diplomatic Council Founding President Ambassador Buddhi Athauda says: „I am very happy to see the new cooperation between the Diplomatic Council and the Diplomat Magazine in The Hague, The Netherlands. The roots of this friendship go back to the days when I served as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It was then that the Diplomat Magazine was newly established while the Diplomatic Council was launched in the same period. Both organizations have grown tremendously since then. It is very natural and synergistic for the two great institutions to cooperate together.“

Dr. Mayelinne De Lara says: „We are happy to work closely with one of the world´s most powerful think tanks in consultative status with the United Nations that connects diplomacy and economy. In light of the fact that both organizations have their roots in The Hague, we will start in the Capital of Peace in 2018 and expand to Belgium and Luxembourg in 2019.“

Diplomatic Council´s Executive Chairman Andreas Dripke says: „The Diplomat Magazine is by far the best partner organization we could think of, not just in the Netherlands, but also in Brussels and Luxembourg. We feel that this is a warm-hearted partnership based on the same set of values driven by friendship and the ultimate wish to make the world a better place.“
