In a packed conference room at the UN in Geneva, excitement crackled like static as experts unveiled the future of quantum technology – a field poised to redefine life as we know it. Declared the "Year of Quantum" by the United Nations for 2025, this technology, rooted in the strange and wondrous principles of quantum mechanics, is no longer a distant dream but a transformative force already taking shape.
April 8, 2025 was a historic day for all participants at the launch event of the Diplomatic Council Quantum Leap initiative at the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development in Geneva. China, India, Russia, the USA and my more countries were listening to what Harald A. Summa, Chairman DC Quantum Leap, Matthias Reidans, Innovation Program Manager DC Quantum Leap, and Hang Nguyen, Diplomatic Council Secretary General, had to say.

From wishful thinking to policy responses
This year's Diplomatic Council (DC) Summer Celebration will take place on July 1st. The stylish setting is provided by the stately Villa Bonn in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) with its unique ambience. We can look forward to a high-calibre programme in a relaxed atmosphere with delicious food and refreshing drinks in an exclusive social setting with cheerful people for sophisticated conversation.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced plans to replace the Green Deal with a new agenda. Her aim is to reduce bureaucracy, boost the economy and still make the EU climate neutral. Green methanol, as a universal, climate-neutral and cost-effective energy source, must be part of this agenda.

Where is this world going? And more particular, what does this mean for Europe and what does this mean for European security? …
A new forum called Real World AI has been established at the Diplomatic Coouncil. It focuses on the use of artificial intelligence in physical systems and environments such as robots, autonomous vehicles, drones, manufacturing plants, buildings or entire cities (smart city). Occasionally, the term ‘physical AI’ is also used, for example by Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia.
The new standard work on Europe's security issues – ‘Europe and the Emerging New Global Order’ (ISBN 9783-98674-123-5) – is being personally presented by the publishers and authors in numerous European cities and in several languages. There are also online presentations. Here is an overview:

The opening of the Diplomatic Council Mission Netherlands was a splendid gala event, organised by the Head of Mission Rob J. Heijtink and Edward van Beek. Rob Heijting gave a good overview of the state and prospects of e-mobility for strengthening sustainability. Edward van Beek gave a good overview of the Pwer Foundation, with which the Diplomatic Council in the Netherlands is working closely and which co-hosted the evening.
